spun out on BQE today.... (pictures included)

The car handles well in the snow, with snow tires of course...

Taking ou tht emoney and even if you are paying intrest on it, could have saved you this anguish you now have to go through..

An ounce of prevention is a s*** load better than what you now have to deal with..

I had a friend do 2 360's on I-95 between Boca and Miami, was the luckiest s*** in the world, no one got hit, he just ended in the ditch, why, cause to cheap to spend money to fix breaks..

Tires ARE the most important part of your car, cause they are what is in contact with the ground..

hihoslva what part of the island are you from?

Babylon.

Just got done digging the car out a little while ago.

Gonna head up to Belmont Park with the wife's Cherokee in a few hours. We're taking the neighborhood kids, and we'll be tying a sled to the rear bumper of her truck and pulling them around the parking lot :):)

Where are you from?

Well it's a little late for that piece of advice, but nontheless I have to do it now, cuz the rear pass. tire is flat... so no choice, thinking maybe I'll just snap some all-season on and leave it like that.

But yeah, could've done this a little earlier, kinda caught off guard about it because NJ/NY usually don't have this much of snow in December, and with my job I have now I'll have to do a lot of driving back and forth....

I took my car out last night, roads were fun. I've learned how to drive in the snow from my camaro. (305 - Holley 650dbl pumper - TH350 tranny with B&M shift kit -3.73) That car was a trip in the snow, used to have to pull my foot off the gas everytime the tranny would shift. I drove from my apartment in South Amboy to Deal, maybe 30 miles away or so. Took it easy, and dodged a few assholes in SUV's, Still have the same tires on the car it came with. Wish I had the money for snow tires - but I'm buying x-mas gifts instead.

Sorry to hear about your car. I've seen and even caused a few accidents on the BQE, it's not safe even when it's just raining.

Good luck with getting everything fixed.

man. . im gonna have to drive really carefully when im up there in 2 weeks. . . . .i have about 18k on my stockers and they are still good but i know they suck in snow. . . i guess i will just drive really really slow. . . .

find a parking lot full of snow, and learn your car. get it up to 5,10,15,25,30 mph. Try turning, try braking. This way you will have some idea of what the car is going to do.

Also, play with the e-brake - it's alot of fun.

cool. . . when i come up on like the 22nd im going to where i used to live (holbrook) which isn't too far from there....oh man it's gonna be scary driving my car up there. . . the stock tires suck in teh rain they are gonna suck more in the snow

Sometimes cars are just cursed. Before the P5 I had a 2000 Cavalier that was hit 5 times in three years, none of the accidents were my fault, and during two of the incidents the car was parked. I also had a whole bunch of close calls. It was like the car was invisible. The fifth time it was hit some b**** rear ended me on the freeway and sent me to the hospital. It totaled the car, though so I wound up buying the P5 so it all worked out.

Dude...........don't know what to say man, if you lived in my area I would ask you why you didn't buy real snow tires. But in your area you don't really need them....you only get the occasional snow.

The roads look pretty clear so you must have either been going to fast or hit some black ice.

Either way it SUCKS!

Be happy you are o.k. though.

sorry to hear about the car, looks like it was pretyy scary. i know how it is, i used to drive around a 97 firebird, that damn thing tryed to spin out everywhere

Hey man glad you are okay. im from long island myself Port Washington. and ive been all around Ny and in the winter its crazy up there (i live in fl now). hey at least its ur car all smashed up and not you. good luck with gettin ur car back together my i suggest Duck Tape :p works good lol or zip ties. lol

ouch.... i know everybody eles has said it, but snow tires are a MUST in the winter!

the most important thing is that you're OK. the car can always be fixed....

traveling on middle lane at 50-mph, realizing a little late that there is a patch of snow in the middle lane before a light left bend. car started to lose control on the snow, once the car got back to black-top, the car start spining at a violent pace, spunned 2 times and the rear wheels caught on the beginning of the divider concentrate, which is much lower than when I ended up in the picture, car conintue to slide sideways like a train and stopped like that.....

Turns out I bend one of my rims, for that Mazda wants to charge me $388 for a rim and $165 for a tire. I say screw you and I'm in need of some used rims....

I didn't even get to the body damage estimate yet, been very busy at work, damn it why I have to work like a dog and still don't have enough to fix my car?????
