Spring match for Koni Yellows

Given that my rear shocks have blown I am in the market for new ones. I will probably be buying Koni yellow sports for all four corners and would like to know what the best spring match is for these. I really don't care about what impact they have to ride height. I just want something that is properly matched for performance. Thoughts?

I believe KONI states on their website that Eibach are their "approved" springs. So if you don't care about ride height that seems like a good choice.

the KONI engineers would probably be able to tell you what spring rates the struts are designed for. (as well as tolerance) then its just a matter of finding springs that meet those specs.

I am getting a set of Koni yellows for my 07' MS3 with stock springs...(burnout) The pro-kit works too, there are quite a few members running this set up.

Just ordered the Koni Yellow/Prokit setup myself. Won't be here until mid-April, though.

My Koni's showed up Monday, install early next week. Will post up a quick review when they're on my car... (rockon)

Let us know how it turns out. I am ready to purchase Koni's, but am interested in reading what the ride is like. I put my stock springs back on recently, since I couldn't stand the stock struts with the Eibach Pro-kit springs (bottomed out easy on horrible freeways and such).

Installed the Koni's, these are a huge improvement over OEM. Keep in mind my OEM's had 46k on them. Didn't think that was too bad until I found my front bump stops were shattered at the top. I was probably going to shave them down anyway, but the point is over time I didn't realize I was stressing out my bump stops like that. One install tip, remove the bottom 4" or so of paint on the front struts (enough to fit into the front control arm sleeve.) I could not fit the fronts without taking the layers of yellow off. It's amazing how thick it is, WHY? The tolerance in fitting the struts into the sleeve is slim. I've heard that the FSD's have the similar issue. I'm going to call Koni to see if they can address this. Not sure how much good it will do but can't hurt. The rears are a piece of cake. Put about 70 miles on them today. Overall they feel incredible, can't wait to take them out for the next Autox to see what they can do. Set both rears/fronts to 50% for now and will see how that works out. The fronts are so easy to adjust, the rears unfortunately have to be taken off to adjust, once they're off it's simple. Can't wait to drive tomorrow and start putting some miles on these, ZOOM ZOOM....

Eibach/H&R sport in general are pretty good match for koni yellows. H&R sport, as a rule of thumb, is 15%-25% stiffer than stock, depending if it is a front or rear spring.

Why not consider KW variant 1 or 2/ H&R coilover kits? A little more money, but you wont need to worry about spring rate not matching the damper.

Very nice. Thanks for writing about them and the tip about the paint removal. I have just ordered a set.

Koni recommends the Eibach Pro-Kit springs for the Yellows.

They also say you can run the stock speed3 springs too, I called and talked to a tech prior to purchasing my set. The final results for me is an amazing set of adjustable struts, it has really transformed my car into a much better handling machine.

Yeah, your impressions are making me anxious to get my last front. I have three in hand - still need the springs and a front right.
