My friend spotted an Evo8 yesterday. Anyone can confirm if these are insurable in Canada let alone Calgary? He says it's got Alberta plates.

That looks too good to be a conversion. It's got an ES wing though instead of the stock Evo wing.

I just talked to a friend the other day the said they weren't going to be able to pass the Canadian crash test guidelines for another model year or so...I think it's a good fake.

I dunno if it's fake man. EVO's have like widebody quarter panels so unless ALL that was changed, it looks authentic. Did it have an intercooler Glen?

Nick - I don't know. I'll have to verify w/ my friend. I wasnt' there. But he did say it had Alberta plates.

If it IS an Evo, which it does appear to be, there's no way he could have had it imported into Canada...they just simply won't pass the canadian crash test requirements. I've got a very very rich client who's been trying to import one for years. He's been forced to purchase a pair of STi instead (I know, rough life). I suppose there's always the option of slipping the crooked inspection guy enough money to pass it as a regular lancer, but that's a longshot.

Oh, and hey Matty...interesting that you've found our thread. I had a bunch of questions for you about the WOMP kit. I'll PM you if that's alright...

OMG, that looks so real. But i have not heard anything about an evo comming with an ES wing. Im a HUGE evo fan myself, pretty angry at transport canada.

I know of someone in Winnipeg with an EVO VIII who got it in before the ban went out. Also there are 2 in vancouver that my friends have seen.

if someone pays enough money they can probably import it to canada or whaterver they please and get around the laws

Well, driving one up from the states wouldn't be hard. And all you need to register and insure it is an out of province inspection. They don't give 2 s**** about crash rating in an out of province. Just that all the lights work, and it's not a piece of s*** basically...

It's real.

Ive seen this car around my house lately a couple of times. I was wondering if it was real, it has the tails, evo hood, and it even had a fmic.

BTW, today I saw a Bentley Continental GT on Stoney trail, and a Pagini Zonda on McLeod a week ago.

Its real, i have confirmation from my friend that the evo8 was orginally important in winnipeg and sold to a person in calgary. The big evo wing was an option so thats why it doesnt have it...sweet...i wish i got in on that sale.

Is it an RS? Althought they only came out recently so it can't be an RS...either way *squirt squirt* for my MF'ing dream car.
