Not all Florida DMV employees are mindless slobs. When I was getting my VW Rabbit registered, the guy that checked the VINs was telling me about how he used to have a 1981 Scirocco that he autocrossed for years. A Skyline is NOTHING like a Maxima. And because you heard a rumor that this worked once is a moot point. Do you have any idea how many times it might have NOT worked?

OK, first, take a deep breath. youre getting more worked up over this than I am. I certainly respect that you are looking out for me, surely, but please note that I have thought about this for hundred's of hours and read pretty much every importation regulation on vehicles/parts in existence. I have talked to people who have got away with it, and I have talked to people who have not... I understand that it is risky, and if something doesn't pan out in the initial stages of importation it just gets registered as a track car and that's that. I certainly have done my homework on this, and am well aware of the risks. After talking with at least 30 different people with similar situations, I feel confident that EVEN if i got caught, i would not go to jail on felony charges.
The ONLY reason i want it registered street legal is to not have to trailer it to tracks and events. This is in no way going to be a daily driver, and the exposure from it will be very limited.
Honestly, I really appreciate your concern and am in no way trying to flame or instigate, but let's just leave this alone with me ensuring you that I know what i am doing and am well aware of the potential consequences. And btw, I never called the FL DMV workers "mindless slobs". I just plan to register there because of the lack of an annual inspection. this is the only reason.

I used to live in Frederick and my mechanic friend is married to the Daughter of the owner of the Jenkins Nissan dealership (and has also worked there) and never told me about him owning any skylines. Is it another dealership or maybe someone who just works there? Either way, that's a bad ass car! I'll ask him about the car the next time I talk to him.
