Sport Exhaust

my Mazdaspeed "Sport Exhaust" didnt come with an O-Ring! Is there a way to get it? I justed bolted the exhaust on. Please help me you guys. What should i do?

Thanks,

p.s. the only thing i got in my exhaust box was the exhaust system and thats it, i didnt get any bolts (i used the old bolts to put it back in place) and i didnt have any O-rings or gaskets in the box.

The box was sealed, when you bought your sport exhaust what was included in the box?

Take the exhaust over to a Napa/Vip or whatever autoparts store is in your area and match one of theirs up with your exhaust. Shouldn't be more than $5 bucks. Its just an aluminum ring that gets crushed when you connect it up to your intermediate pipe. Good luck!

well, i went to the dealer and he said it should have came with a gasket so he gave me one. It looks like a ring, perfectly circle with some green stuff in the inner sides, its from a miate racing beat exhast he told me but he said it will work, its the same ring that they have used on the mp3 and mp5 before.

I will have to take take my exhaust off later this week i guess and put it in, does any one know where exactly i put this ring in? Do i put it in the new exhasut hole or the pipe that im connecting it too?

Also, do i need to add anything to it before i stick it in? (like grease or something?)

Thanks

Dennis,

Its been a couple of weeks since I installed mine - but I think I removed the old O ring, and rested the new one inside the pipe that comes from the cat converter (read engine), and then placed the new mufler pipe over it - tried to make sure it was square in there, and then replaced and tightened the bolts. It might be worrth getting a couple replacment nuts if you can, just in case. The more I think about it, I don't think it matters much which pipie you rest the O ring in - its going to end up getting squashed between the 2 pipes anyway. My instructions told me to check for leaks, to start the car, and breifly put a rag in the tail pipe, and get my ear close to the area of the O ring, and listen for leaks. I tightened my bolts pretty damn tight (but not "medeival on its ass") and I did not hear any leaks - so I assumed all OK.

Too bad you have to go thru the process again. I guess for me, if I do some mod I'm not too sure about I call the dealer in advance and ask if there is any extra gaskets or sealants before I do the job, just cause I don't want to be missing small parts when I have everything apart.
