Spool or Injen CAI?

Let us know as soon as you hear about the pricing and other details from AEM. I haven't checked back with Robert for a few weeks. He was supposed to be keeping me informed as to when this would be ready. If you have just been in contact with AEM, could you give us a hint as to when it will be available, and the estimated price? As long as it is less than the overpriced Injen, I am definitely in! I was going to go with Spool, but I know how much R&D goes into AEM intakes. I have been there and seen it. I actually work pretty close to there, so I have been bugging them since I first got my car. Rob told me he would call one of the shops close by that they do big business with, and have them hook me up with a fat discount since my first AEM was never delivered for my other car. Will the hardpipes be available soon after? As long as they aren't $400 or more, I will be all about those also! Keep us updated, dude, seriously! I want to get this stuff soon!!

Does anyone know what brand of intake they are using for the Spool and Ion kits? I haven't seen any pics of the Ion yet, but I have seen the Spool pics, and they look like generic filters. Are they K&N perhaps? I know many companies use K&N because they filter so well. However, AEM used to use them, and developed their own filter which flows better. As I have said, Greddy is supposed to flow best, and still filter almost as well as the K&N, and it is friggin't tiny, and sweet looking (the green mushroom). I would like to use that filter with the Spool cold air kit? Think we could convince them to make that a choice? It would fit better I would think, and perhaps not need to be cleaned as often. Is it possible to install that think by just removing the inner fender dust shield? I don't feel like taking my front bumper off my car. If I do, I am removing the headlights to take out the stupid amber lens. I was researching, and it looks like that is the only way to get the headlights off? Can anyone substantiate any of this information?

nictlg7 - We use a filter made by ATE (former K&N engineer started this company). Basically the same as the K&N, just different color and internal volume characteristics. The rest is made in house :) CRDMS1 has our CAI along with our Stage 1 FMIC.
