Just tring to do some research on which one you guys prefer.
Does the extra tubing that the injen comes with make a big difference (for the extra money)?
Which one sounds best and performs best?

Here is my take on it....just as I have said before in the countless over CAI threads!

If you are going to mod your car a lot, then get either Ion or Spool. That way you don't have to worry about fitment!
If you are not going to be getting hardpipes/fmic etc then by all means go with Injen.
I don't know the price of the Ion CAI, but the Spool is $175 + shipping as opposed to the Injen which is $200 and I think that includes shipping.
The piping back to the turbo does not matter by the way. It is just for show!

Thanks, yeah i have just been debating back and fourth and using the search, just wanted some up to date knowledge. I am not planning on modding my car too much, just a CAI and maybe up the boost a tad.

Also is the injen alot more complicated to install compared to spools?

I have the injen and I couldnt be happier. I just feel like the spool is cheesy because you can make the same CAI from auto zone for about 40 bucks. If I am going to get a CAI, im going to get rid of the damn bad plastic piping. Dont fame me, these are my opinions.

yeah that is a very good point! Did you have any of the problems that i have been reading about, with hesitation ect?

I won't fame you for your opinions (laugh)
I might flame you for your opinions though - (laugh)
Sorry couldn't help myself!!!

i have the ingen, its a great lookin setup and sounds frekin awesome when the turbo spools up, like a razor wind sound......or...ya.......onomonpia anyone?

So the spool FMIC kit doesnt fit with the injen intake? :(
Does any FMIC kit fit with the injen?

I believe he had to do some modifications, but they were small if I remember correctly.

I'm gonna go with the injen personally. If I do a front mount anyways, im gonna go custom. I know people!

Yes, I think both Spool and Ion will work with it. You just have to tell them that you have it. I know also that they give discounts for multiple order parts. So that is why I suggested that you just get it from one company.
Originally the Spool will not work, you have to specify that you have it and then they make it to that spec. I am not sure if this is extra or not.

Support the guys that have busted their asses for the Protege aftermarket and play an active part in this community.

*Cough* SPOOL *Cough*

Once you see Spools work you will like it better than Injen. I get so many compliments on my intake you would not believe. These are very unique products.

Here is a picture of my NA CAI made for me by Spool. As far as I know I am the only one that has this.

Lol I never thought I would have seen that. Why did you cut out the turbo and go N/A?

Edit : I figured it out

eX-r8eD - our stage 1 FMIC kit works with the Injen intake no problem. :) 505zoom has this exact set-up. ->

Or you can go with our specifically matched CAI with our stage 1 FMIC :)

I am picking up my MSP from AEM today. They are finishing up the design for their CAI for the MSP. They put in on the dyno the other day and as soon as I get a Dyno print out of the power gains using the AEM CAI I will post them up.
