It's quite a bit louder than I expected. Idle is fine, and cruising at 2000-2500 RPMS is fine. Anything else is pretty damn loud, but DEEP. It sounds AWESOME but it may be too loud for me (I'm very picky). It also backfires on command which is pretty damn cool (remember I do have the Apex downpipe with single cat). I'm going to give it a few days to get used to it and then make a decision.

  1. Keep the system as it is
  2. Sell the system and go back to stock
  3. Have a muffler shop cut off the HKS Hi-Power muffler and weld on the stock muffler
  4. Sell the system and get a custom 2.5" pipe back to the stock muffler
  5. Added - There's a silencer available for the muffler. Say it decreases sound by 7dB http://www.topendmotorsports.com/en...t/mufflers/hks/

What do you guys think?

I'd cut the muffler, as I think they're too big.

I assume it's stainless?

start a vote... mine is 4... i'm going to do that at a local mazda car shop

Yes there's a noticeable difference in power...not as much as from the downpipe but it's still noticeable....about the same increase as the Injen, maybe a bit more.

I say keep it on then. A lot of my friends say the stock exhaust is a little too buzzy up high, and since you notice a difference in power, i say keep it.

i say keep it, i love mine (except for some fitment issues that are ok right now)...

i agree with the option #5 get the silence cause if you sell it, chances are you wont get the money back for which you paid for it...id get my moneys worth out of it

I have option #4 on mine. Very happy with it. But I don't know how much I am losing with the stock muffler.

no dont do that..sell the whole exhaust and just get something custom made for you...but dont hack up an original spool catback....(no)

give it to me(headbang)

silencers sux...the will reduce what power u are gettin...if u wanna quiet it som try a resonator or two thrown in...or sell it and get a cusotm setup....i had a full turbo back and ended up sellin because of the noise.....im gonna do the custom piping to the stock muffler i dea i think

I have been concerned with sound to. I was going to buy the Spool cat back but decided not to because the way the person described it was to loud for me. I want to add 2.5 and keep the stock muffler. The only thing stopping me is if it will be allot louder and is there a noticable increase in power which no one has been able to answer.
