Special ordering a new Mazda5 -- experiences?

That's it, I ordered a 2008 Touring 5-Speed on Friday, let's see how long it takes to get here...

What color did you order? What options?

My guess is that the first 5spd Touring in your color to hit the shores, will be upfitted with any of the PIO's you ordered and sent to you. So it probably won't be a 4 months wait. It could arrive with the first shipments.

That would be fantastic! I hope you're right. The 2008's have very few optionsm but here's what I ordered:

* 5-Speed Manual Transmission
* Brilliant Black Clearcoat (A3F)
* Black Cloth Interior (CC5)
* Navigation System (NV1)

Unfortunately our three color choices 1.) Phantom Blue, 2.) Stellar Greensilver, and 3.) Plum Mica have all been dropped for 2008! I was hoping that special ordering the car would give us an option to pick another color, but they said no Although the color of the car pictured in the center of this picture would be my first preference http://www.lambocars.com/hr/event/vi20031.htm .

Maybe you should find out what the new "Copper Red" (correct name?) will look like.

Yes, we looked at the Copper Red and Stormy Blue in the dealer showroom, that color is available for the CX-7 and CX-9. Those colors are very nice, but a they're not for us. Not that black is any better, but we think its the best of the rest.

Do you have an idea of the pricing for the 08 model? I asked a few dealers and they told me they don't know.... If you were able to order I would tend to think they prefer emptying the lot of the 07 model rather than selling me a 08

No I haven't got the pricing yet. Instead, I negotiated a price over invoice. You could also negotiate a price under MSRP. I'll let you know as I have a firm number...I can't imagine it changing much over the 2007 models.

Did they give you an estimated delivery date?

No I haven't got the pricing yet. Instead, I negotiated a price over invoice. You could also negotiate a price under MSRP. I'll let you know as I have a firm number...I can't imagine it changing much over the 2007 models.

We also negotiated/were offered 1.7-1.8% over 2007 invoice by our dealer on a 2008 GT Mazda5 in Copper Red with Sand, which they said was the standard pricing increase between model years. That said, we haven't signed anything, and can still alter our order, if needed.
