Speakers in PR5 fit like glove

So there is a clear cut answer for the next guy like me who wondered for a while, the Infinity Kappa 2 way coax's fit just fine in the PR5. I had the new 2003 Kappa's (5x7 in fronts, 6.5 in rear). Have them powered with a MTX Blue Thunder 4 ch (58 w rms tech spec). They sound killer and fill the car up extremely well.

grrrr
i bought infinity kappa 5x7 for the front and guess what...the holes in the door plate do NOT match the holes in the speakers mounting ring....about 2mm offset..
to close to drill another hole, to far to somehow drill the screws in... F*CK

THe Kappas have oval holes for a reason. Just put in the 2 screws that match then drill new ones for where they don't. You can drill the mounting bracket of the speaker a bit if you'd prefer.
This is why shops charge money to do installs (thumb)

hmmm
i measured the distance between the holes...

speaker:
horizontal distance 11cm
door plate 10,5cm ... exactly 5mm difference..

the verticals are same with door and speaker..utterly stupid...
i will try to enlargen the existing hole in the speaker..i hope the frame doesn't break :(

what i don't get is that infinity puts adjustable screw lugs/loops on the speakers on other models of the kappa series..but not on the 5x7 :( sniff

Hey CruzinAltitude, I probably have a little over a grand put into the whole thing parts and install. Specifically, about $250 for install which included amp, HU, 4 speakers, and complete dynamatting on all four doors. I have all Monster wires for RCA's, power, lead etc. A monster distribution block for when I add to the system.

Put the Extreme Dynamat in there with full coverage. It makes such a difference. I had probably a 30% road noise reduction. Not to mention keeping stereo sound inside and tightening up bass.

Where in Cali are you located? I am up by Santa Barbara.
