2010 White AWD Grand Touring
Hi to all... My wife and I will be picking up our new Crystal White Pearl Mica 2010 AWD Grand Touring tomorrow afternoon. We are coming from a 2007 GMC Acadia SLT2 and we're hoping me made the right decision in purchasing the CX-9. I'm confident that we did just based off of the test drive... The handling of the CX-9 is definitely hands down better than the SUVs/Crossovers I've been used to driving over the years (burnout)

I think you made the right choice. The test drive got us too, as well as the deep discounts from getting a dealer demo car. We went from a mazda 3 to the CX-9 and the transition was smooth because the 9 handles so well. post pics when you can. i'm always jealous of the crystal whites. Have fun!

Thanks cballa217! There are definitely great deals to be had on the CX-9. The zero percent financing we got was the icing on the cake for us!

queens, we test drove the acadia and enclave and looked into some other cars. the cx-9 in quality and performance is above and beyond better, and a more reasonable price car than the x5, xc90, and q7. great choice! we also have the pearl white mica 2010 awd gt moonroof nav

Great color choice coolisjade (thumb) Before deciding on the CX9, we were actually leaning towards getting the Enclave knowing pretty much that it was similar to the Acadia we had for the past 3 years... just a bit more luxurious. However, one sit inside the driver's seat of the CX9 and the subsequent test drive... We were sold! We knew we would be giving up some space and some extra features as compared to the Acadia/Enclave but we felt the value of the CX9 was just too hard to ignore (spin)

just curious, 3 years turnaround for a new car is that normal is that a good technique? we always thought about just running our cars to the ground?

Or if the car is leased... The Acadia we had was a 3 year lease. Over the years, my wife and I have always leased our SUVs/Crossovers... We never wanted to worry about reliability, etc. This will actually be the first SUV/Crossover that we have purchased. The zero% financing was just too hard to pass up. BTW, the Acadia never really gave us any problems over the 3 years.... Just a recall on the leaking sunroof.

Awesome another new CX-9 owner! We just got ours (White GT also) Weds. Next nice day I'll have to take some pics and post them in my own thread instead of hijacking others.

We considered the Acadia and Enclave as well. They are great cars. We chose the CX-9 because we preferred the way it drove and we got comparable content for a few $thousand less. The one area the GM Lamdas really beat the CX-9 is on space. They are slightly larger but seem much larger once inside. They also drive well for such large vehicles but don't beat the CX-9 in that department.
We are in a golden age of large crossovers. There are so many choices and each has its own distinct character. I imagine, over time, crossovers will begin to resemble each other a bit more and we'll wind up where we are today with minivans and mid-sized sedans, where all the competitors are more alike than they are different. Enjoy the options while you can.

We had test driven the Acadia when it came out, but there was some sort of weird hesitation/sluggishness with the accelerator, so we went with the CX-9, and haven't regretted it. It's the handling that won us over, and my wife feels very confident driving it, which is important since this is her daily driver.

As for the 3 year turnaround, that is typical with leases. In fact, I remember reading an article many years ago that showed, statistically, cars start having more hefty repair issues after 5 years, and this was a decision point for owners: either trade it in before major issues arise, or spend the money to fix it and run it into the ground.

I have owned 3 Japanese vehicles for 7~8 years since new.
My wife's Prius is on its 5th year, my CX9 is on its 3rd year.
None has more than 1 issue. In fact, both the Honda/Acura I owned
never had 1 light bulb went out.

Note that I keep my vehicle garaged, and washed frequently,
not to mention regular maintenance.

Problem beyond 5 years? The only German (BMW) I owned had
many problem even before the OE warranty went out....

The timeframe of 3 years is the one I like the most.
But, in the end, several factors can definitely change that.

Here are some camera phone pictures of our 2010 CX-9.... I'll try to take some better pictures the next time I wash the car.

I also was able to drive the CX-9 this past weekend for over 150 NYC/Long Island miles and here is an assessment of what I will miss from our recently turned in Acadia and what I really like thus far in the CX-9 as compared to the Acadia:

Acadia

- More driver room and cargo capacity than CX-9 (Driver's seat gives more legroom and width)

- Quieter ride, much less road noise, and less bump impact harshness. (GT CX-9 crashes over NYC's less than perfect road imperfections. I hear and feel the bumps loud and clear, especially coming from the rear of the vehicle. My mother-n-law who was sitting in the back seat was also complaining that her back was hurting her from the bumps. Maybe it has to do with the tires the GT has. I even pulled over in a gas station to check the tire air pressure to see if they were over inflated... LOL However, I took out my Charger R&T this weekend too which has low profile 245/45/20 tires on it and although I would feel the bumps, the noise of the impacts were drowned out by the insulation of the car. When test driving the GT CX-9, I drove it on smooth Long Island roads so we really didn't hear or feel the louder ride.) Not a major issue for me though since I like the handling dynamics of the car which far outweighs the firmer ride.

- Nicer engine growl than CX-9... The Acadia has a pleasing intake burble where the CX-9 is more of a mechanical whir although not really bothersome at all.

- Power Folding Outside mirrors with memory function ( I had to get my wife and I to agree on our outside mirrors position so we don't ever have to change them again.) I will however miss the ability to fold the mirrors with the touch of a button in tight parking spaces.

- Auto Lock Doors

- Head Up Display (Useful for highway driving)

- Rear liftgate is higher than the CX-9 ( I bumped my head about 3 or 4 times this weekend... I'm 6'4")

- Tire PSI display (As mentioned earlier, I had to pull over to a gas station to check the air pressure where as in the Acadia you can see that information on a display... I guess I will be purchasing my own gauge soon.)

CX-9

- Terrific handling dynamics (The CX-9 justs begs to be driven hard (drive))

- Tighter turning radius

- More stylish exterior and interior (Nice two-tone leather!)

- Better brakes (The car can stop on a dime :) )

- WAY better transmission (The Acadia's tranny was always hunting for gears, especially on the highway, where it would become quite annoying.)

- Better Navigation system (The Acadia's was very slow to react where the CX-9's is very quick.)

- BSM (Very useful safety feature)

- Rain Sensing Wipers (cool feature)

All in all, I would say that the Pros far outweigh the Cons and the $7,000 saved by going with the CX-9 as opposed to getting another Acadia or getting the Enclave was a smart decison by my wife and I.

I'm 5'11" and I bonk my head near the corners of the tailgate, so don't blame your gargantuan height, it's just that it must have been designed by really short people!

I think the road noise is partly due to less insulation, but partly due to the tires. I think people who have bought Yokohamas Paradas have reported less road noise. Our tires are have become quite noisy as they've worn down, I personally think they're garbage, we're only at 20k miles. As for the harshness, you'll get used to it, I don't even notice it anymore. But the 18" wheels are less harsh.

My wife loves the turning radius of the CX-9, I think it's tighter than my Mazdaspeed 3. This is something that is really overlooked in reviews or marketing of the car, it really makes it drive smaller.

Get the Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires. It will make the ride MUCH smoother and quieter. I own a 2010 CX-9 GT and I replaced the tires one week after the owning the car.

Thanks for the info... I am seriously considering getting the Yokohomas. I see them on-line for about $600... Not too bad of a price. However, I might have to convince my wife. When I mentioned this to her yesterday, she thought I was crazy to want to get new tires for the car already. I'll probably just do it anyway :) LOL

If she is "into" vehicles she will probably notice the change in tires, if she is not, then she probably overlook it and go unoticed, unless of course your garage has an extra set of tires stacked up in a corner...LOL!

Either way...thats having some huevos going against what the wifee wants...GOOD LUCK!
