Soon to be (!?) new CX-9 owner - pricing thoughts?

I've been doing a lot of reading here in the past week, but this is my first post! Am looking to get a CX-9 shortly.

Right now I have an offer for a Demo 2011 GT with 15k miles on it - Bose/moonroof and power liftgate - for $31,000 OTD.

Thoughts on if this is a good deal or if I should go for a brand new one (lower miles) instead?

Enjoying the forum!

First off, welcome to the forum!

Secondly, price seems fair if you don't mind the milage. At 31 OTD, you're getting it for 28-29, which seems pretty good to me. How are they handleing the warranty. Are they adding 15K to the 3/36? Oh, and is this AWD? I just assumed it was for the price, but if not, you can probably do a little better.

I haven't priced CX9s lately, but just for comparison sake I bought our GT with the same package in 07 for around $32500 which was then a good deal. Essentially 4 years later and the same price=a good deal IMO.

It's a FWD, forgot to include that. Looks like Mazda is offering 0% APR in November for both 2011 and 2012s (was just on 2011s in October). So may be beneficial to wait until the end of November and then look at getting a month-end deal on a zero miles 2011 or 2012. Argh, so many decisions...but love this vehicle and can't wait to own one!

I would rather spend an extra $k to buy new, than to buy a "technically new (not ever title)" used vehicle with 15k miles on it with a small discount. If I'm spending $30k on a car, I want to be the first person to fart in the seat. If there are any 2011's left out there, once the incentives come out for November, you will probably see that they are trying to give them away (cash discounts/rebates). When we bought our 2011 at the end of September, the rebates were either $1,500 or $2,000, and we got ours for $2,500 under invoice. I was pissed to see the October rebates were either $2,000 or $2,500 (can't remember), cuz we could have saved another $500-$1,000...but what can you do. They probably won't be likely to deal as hard on the 2012's though, but I don't know. Keep an eye on edmunds, they usually post the rebates by the 1st/2nd week of the month. Also, walk into the dealership knowing that "manufacturer to dealer cash" is your money, not theirs :) Having your own financing lined up helps.

I agree, I hope I was the first to fart in the seat in our CX9. I hope not to be the first to poop in the seat though. I'll leave that up to our 15mo old.

I think that is a good deal...but think you can talk them down to 30. I mean, 15k miles...you can get the same vehicle brand new negotiated to 34k so 28-30max would be my offer If I were you. However, if it were me, I would steer clear of any demo car with 15k miles on it. "Demo" means the service manager has been using it as his personal vehicle and driving the snot out of it, in addition to customer test drives (alot of in-town driving, in-town braking, etc) Also, if the vehicle has been in any accidents, had any body repairs, and damage that they have perhaps "repaired" its not gonna show up on a Carfax, trust me. But if you can convince yourself that it is accident and damage free, and for just a few k less than a new one... I dunno. I say go for new.

I don't know how the deals are this year but last year I manage to negociate a brand new CX9 GT AWD with Bose, Navigation and Moonroof for 33K (they were clearing the 2010 for making space for the 2011) so in comparison I do not find it interresting. shop a bit around and consult Edmunds and KBB to see what are the deals right now...
