Some questions about 1st and 2nd gen rx7

What do you guys think about Mitsubishi Eclipses? I know the base models aren't real performance oriented, but i've noticed AWD turbocharged 1st and even 2nd gens in the classifieds pretty often for good prices.

They can be blazingly fast when you hook them up.... But they break.... A lot....

I think you should save up more money until you can get what you really want. It sounds like you are aiming pretty high for only wanting to spend 5 grand and not put any work into it.

I love my TII but i've been told unless you know the entire history, they aren't the best daily Drivers. Mine only has 96k miles and STILL need a rebuild, the Rx-7 engine is only as reliable as the owner of it. It takes alot of oil, coolant, and gas to keep them running right. This matenacne cost can add up, but it is a blast to drive. Oh and Most TIIs don't get past 160k miles well taken care of on the stock engine without a rebuild os check to se how many miles are on th eengine since it's last rebuild. For $2800 it could have around 50k miles on a rebuilt. If it's a stock motor never rebuilt it was taken care of well, but stay away from it from sheer mileage alone.

Thanks for all your help, guys. I hate to tell you this, but I had to make a change in plans because my dad sold his durango, so I now longer had a tow vehicle for the atvs. Riding quads is what I live for, so I ended up getting a 93 GMC Sonoma so that I can keep riding. By fall i'll probably be in a position to buy a 2nd vehicle, and i'm debating if I should get a sportbike or a car. Right now i'm leaning towards a car, and most likely it'll be a miata if I do decide to go that way.

Yes but after owning one you pretty much damn well know a engine inside and out, good learner cars for fixing.
