I did the same thing in my protege, with the carbon fiber vinyl. It helps to take off the pieces if possible, so you can get the edges folded over the piece you're covering up. If you can't take it off, than use something slim, like a credit card, and you can fold it in to the crevices. Of course, the more time you spend on this, the better your outcome will be.
