ok, before anyone confuses things, hehe, this is how this came about.
i am not talking about any trans related issues, synchro grind, etc. i don't have any shifting issues, and my trans is fine!
shifting related mods are CS inserts, TWM bushings and TWM short shifter.
i noticed today that when i shifted into a forward shifting gear, like 1/3/5, car running or not, at the top or...end of the shift, there would be a crunching type sound right under the shift boot.
i removed the cover(s) and noticed that the circular thing at the end of the cable that attaches to the frontmost "nub" was crunchy inside. I popped it off the nub, and filled it through the center hole in the cup with quality silicone grease (i used SSP SS2000 lube). I then depressed it several times so any excess would squeeze out, cleaned it all up, made sure the nub was clean, and reattached.
crunching gone.
make sure you depress it several times to let the excess squeeze out. and clean it well before re-assembly, because otherwise it'll make a farting/air sound due to lube being displaced and replaced as the nub seals to hole.
while i was at it, i decided to add the silicone lube in the base shifter cup, on the reverse nub, etc. it really does a superior job vs. the normal lithium grease.
