Note; the cut-back style doors. That feature is unique to the 289 FIA. The 427 Cobra didn't have those. Also; the exhaust pipe exits under the bodywork as a single pipe on the 289 FIA. It was a wicked fast car, to say the least. This 'continuation' Cobra will set you back about $75,000 in Fiberglass (complete). But Shelby American does offer it in the original 'aluminum' for substantially more.
There are a couple of replica builders that offer the 289 FIA Cobra as well. Unique Motorcars in Gadsden, AL & ERA Replicas of New Britain, CT. They build only Fiberglass versions.

I got to ride in several Vipers and the Blue w/ White strips is my favorite. There is absolutly no other car in the world like a viper. I'm less than a year from graduation, 1 student loan, and a house away from my Viper. I told my wife when we got married I needed 3 things...a hammock, a nice big garage and a viper to put in it. My groom's cake at my wedding was a Blue w/ white strips GTS viper for crying out loud.

I will tell what. If you get a Sports Car with 450HP, you best go to drving school. You have no idea what that much power is like until you actually experience it for yourself.
I agree on the GTS Coupe. They are awesome. Too bad it was discontinued. Did you know that it is 'actually' (considered by many) the son of the Cobra Daytona Coupe?

0-60 mph: 3.9 seconds
* The first coupe (chassis #2299) was designed and built in less than 90 days (it competed at the 12 hrs. of Daytona in 1964, and was leading Ferrari when a fire in the pits ended their day).
* In 1965, Coupe (chassis #2601), by winning the 12 hour race at Reims, France, wrapped up the World's Manufacturer Title for Shelby American. This is the first American maker to do this.
* The Daytona Coupe is the car that 'kicked Ferrari's ass'.
In the U.S., on the tighter circuits, the 289 & 427 Cobras were doing well, and beating Ferrari. But; in Europe, on the courses with the longer straight sections, Ferrari had the edge with the 250 GTO. The Cobra roadsters were like a brick going down the straights. Aerodynamic nightmares. Carroll Shelby called upon Pete Brock (a designer & Shelby driving school instructor), and a few other of his lead people, including Phil Remington, to come up with a 'Cobra' solution to 'kick Ferrari's ass' - as Shelby himself stated. They did it alright, and they did it 'Big'! Carroll Shelby, himself, actually had little to do with the actual Daytona Coupe design.
Value: 1964/1965 estimated @ $15,000 * The last one auctioned off at nearly $4,000,000.00!! All (6) of the original coupes are accounted for, and sometimes one or two, actually appear at vintage road races throughout the world.
Notice: very similar performance numbers to the Viper GTS Coupe.

I love the 289 FIA - no question!! Of course; the one pictured is a Shelby American. The 'ERA' replica version is a real badass, too.
About $52,000; if they build it to completion. About a one year waiting list.
