So, I have a few questions

I recently decided to join the Mazdaspeed sensation and late spring/early summer I am hoping for a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege of my own.

I do have a few questions, is it true the Mazdaspeed's are the best handling for it's class FWD cars out right now? Mazda has some great engineering so I hear.

Did about 2 hours of searching, answered me own questions, except for that spoiler, saw a guy with it but kept where he got it from a seceret (smash).

And hate to be a ricer, but I intend to keep the car clean but I really think this spoiler looks snazzy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3J1l0vXMRM, if anyone just has an idea off the top of their head shoot but don't even bother searching.

I look forward to conversing with you all.

How much boost can the internals on these cars take safely? I read back quite a few pages and was slightly confused, with one person saying 9.5 boost is suicide and another say stock internals with a proper tune 10psi should be safe. How far can one take the T25? What's the max for it? I fully intend to go for 220+HP.

Where do a lot of you go for the majority of your Protege performance parts(I may answer this myself, I haven't searched enough yet but might as well ask)?

Welcome. I've never seen that vid before. Is that JDMSam's car?

Thanks, ah no idea, I just thought that spoiler was real nice looking and haven't been able to find it.

The MSP was the best handling car of it's time. Now I think the MS3 takes the title. The boost limit is different on most of these cars and is dependant on temperature. I was only able to run about 11-12psi before I'd hit fuel cut with the stock ECU. 220whp is very good target but the stock motor may still not be able to handle that, it's still based off a car that's rated at 135-140fhp. There are quite a few cars here in that range and it makes for a very enjoyable car with balanced handling and good HP.

I highly, highly, without a doubt don't think the MS3 can hold a candle to the poise and balance of the Protege's handling. It's 600 pounds more than my Protege5 haha. They're way too cushy, even the speed3 somehow.

Now are we talking completely new internals in order to reliably withstand that much HP or are their key elements for these particular cars which lead to success?

My idea was Unichip(has it's own boost controller, I believe at least), Vibrant turbo back, Hiboost FMIC, higher flowing intake of some sort and now after reading I may just leave the suspension alone until I can afford something that will really make a difference, perhaps upgraded LSD.

That's a rough draft pretty much, any suggestions to what else I would probably want? To me that set up would make sense to make 210-220HP.

Something I should ask, I've installed an exhaust on my Jimmy and intakes and spark plugs regular stuff a man should know. Now I'm a somewhat smart guy, is installing an Unichip or a BOV something I couldn't do? At least do safely? I'm a trial and error kind of guy.

Yeah, the idea behind my current love for MSP is the pure handling capabilities.

welcome

what are you really looking for ??

if you like Japanese cars than msp is the best of its class if compared to european counterparters than theres give or take situations like the main thing audi's will stand of higher hp w/o worring about upgrading the internal engine and so on and on.......

based on $$ it could be the top of its class but you need $$ to upgrade safely whp so....

you'll have to decide what you looking for and what would you like to get/do w/ it after all.

good luck

P.S i like my silver msp but wish it was all wheel drive thats all :P
