So about the V6 in the Protege/P5

:
Mazda RX7 '87' & Hyundai Tiburon GT '05'
Yes I searched :) and found a 20 something paged topic that confused the **** out of me... :P

Anyways, is it possible to swap the 626/mx6/probe 2.5L V6 into the 3rd gen protege/p5?

From what I can infer the answer is the engine drops in but there are tranny problems. And rewiring is required, along with the v6's ecu... there is a weight difference of about 150lbs as well.

I noticed there aren't alot of topics on this. So I'm wondering if anyone know if I missed any important points ( cutting/notching the frame, custom axles etc.)

Just didn't find the other threads too helpful unless I missed one.

that looks Hot... mmmm V6 torqy goodness... I/H/E actually make a difference...Lol...

Avg cost, implications? (mounts? axles? tranny?)

klze swap

you must mean the probe-mx-6 kl06 and klze swap. i have researched this and spoke to the people who have done the swap in canada ( two-fast.ca ) purchase a kl front cli or car everything bolts up ( motor and trans mounts are the same. same axles but diffrent half shafts ( comes with a clip or car ) considering running a stanbd alone ecu because the thing that is going to hold you up is the wiring make sure you get both wiring diagrams for the protege and donor car. the motor only wieghes about 75lbs more the your fs motor so no need to upgrade your brakes or suspension. you can get a front clip from flashoptions.com for around $2000 = $580 for shipping ( its over seas ) and as far as i can tell turboing the car afterwards would be a pain in the butt very little room once the motors in the bay. ill look for some install pictures and post them...ps the reason i know this stuff is because i am doing the swap its going to cost me $4000 usd. so im only getting 200hp and 164 tq. im considering doing a turbo instead but we will see..if you have anymore questions just ask.

oh by the way there is NO further moding to anything on the car everything is a bolt in the wiring is the hold up..and keep in mind ford is no longer producing a bunch of parts for the motor so ask your local mazda dealer if they still stock parts..

by the way i called two fast and i asked him about forced induction and they said it can be done no problem at all. so im going to perform the swap for sure in the near future. also they are going to talk and see if they can produce a already made up harness for my swap..im running and klze auto trans with the jdm ecu and wiring so i will have the full recorded specs of 200 and 164 ill post pictures when im done the swap and i will gladly answer questions in the meantime. ps if you are considering turbo the stock usdm kl06 is the better motor the lower compression is the way to go..im going klze because a turbo is a year or 2 down the road.
