Of course there has been tons of talk about the causes of smoking turbo's and how to fix them, but not so much what the negative effects are...(uhm)

So my question is.. Should I be that worried ? I don't mind the smoke, but other than that what does it actually do ? People act like the sky is falling:eek:. Is it an overreaction ? The only thing I can think of is you might consume a bit of engine oil in-between changes.

Other than the guy behind me not being able to read my license plate at Jack in the Box what are the detrimental effects of bad seals/smoking turbo ?????????

Fouling spark plugs, build up in the turbo and cylinders, fouling expensive oxygen sensors, and eventual (albeit a pretty long way away) turbo charger failure

You would be able to notice these things occurring correct ? I'm sure the car would start lacking performance wise. Or does the turbo just one day take a s*** on you ?

Well the car doesn't feel as fast as it used to, but most people say its just you getting used to the car, so butt dyno can't be trusted. I'm sure performance would take a downturn, but let's wait for someone a bit smarter than I to chime in :D

Yeah, I might post in another forum. This is more of a beginner forum for those just getting into modding. I used it when I first arrived, but eventually everyone who goes deeper into modding moves to the other forums. Very few on this forum can answer my questions

your comment is untrue. You havent been on this site very long have you, there are many people with modded msp, ms3, and ms6 and the rest anyhow, your catalytic and o2 sensors will see damage, so get it fix. performance wise, i dont think you'll feel any change

i have had a smoking turbo for the last 3 months and i couldnt hold more the 18 psi when my map was calling for 20.1then a couple weeks later i was hittin 15 psi then when i went to the dyno i hit 11-12 psi and only mad 249 whp fully bolted so i think a smoking turbo def will lead to failure

So you did actually notice performance start to lack. Thats what I was wondering. Im still holding 20 PSI. When Im not able to Ill get a re worked turbo
