Yup, commin north on I-5 i got behind some big trucks pushin 35 up this hill, i got over to pass em right at the top of the hill. once i get past the first one they all get momentium commin down and are pushin 70, i speed up to pass em and the rest is a 500$ ticket. 95 in a 65......ouch.

sad thing is i waznt in gear, i was coastin down the hill.

yeah, a radar detector ($200-$250 for a nice one) can be cheaper than just one ticket. not trying to rub it in, 'cause I had to learn that too, but moreso for anyone reading the thread.

edit: Everytime I see a black and white along the side of the road, I think about how I'd like to see smokie to go solve a crime.

DAMN! That's almost twice as much as the biggest ticket I ever got. At that speed, you should be lucky they didn't arrest you on the spot (I think 100+ & they do). If you would have left it in gear, going down the hill probably would have slowed you down.

SLOW DOWN & get an Escort 8500...believe me, it will save you $$ in the long run.

this is the sad thing. I live in Oregon and for some reason thought they were illegal. I went to cali this weekend to see some friends. Its this small hick town with asshole cops with nothing better to do.

So i picked a cheap one up at wall mart for like 50$, drive around and it saved me from about 3 tickets, nothing serious maybe just 5-10 miles.

I had one cop follow me for about 5 miles shooting me about every 30 seconds just begging for me to speed.

But so ya i took it back the day i left since i was under the impression they were illegal in oregon.

Now here is the messed up part, he clocked me at 75 commin over the hill, then again at 86 then the third at 95, he wasnt going to pull me over till the 95 since it was a steep downgrade.....moral is if i wasnt a dumb ass and took it back i wouldnt have this ticket.

I am going to go buy a new one 2night, any recommendations?

My question is, if you had time to speed up from 75 to 95 IN NEUTRAL (which doesn't sound right to me) . . . where was the cop that whole time and how come you didn't see him? (scratch)

the escort mentioned above... anything that is escort tends to be a cut above. IMO.

edit: I'll vouch for your ability to do that (speed increase like that on a hill/mountain), it is kinda sad the cop was able to get you three times though. That's why I don't like to speed at night, can't see the smokie.

i don't know man, i am not trying to be an ass or something.... but why would you shift to neutral when going down hill... when i went to Jim Russell racing school, the instructor said that never ever leave your gear in neutral no matter what, because u can easily lost control and but the time u realize u are out of control, u will be on the wall already coz u don't have to power to overcome the steer...

Escort 8500 is awesome. . .only thing close to that is the Valentine One which is more expensive. Uniden, Whistler, And Cobra suck. A few others like Bel are tolerable. Just look online for some reviews and such, there are a lot out there.

it was like a 8% downgrade, it was night and at the bottom of the hill was a long valley, i didnt see him untill i almost passed him....I accelerated up the hill like a mother then once i peaked i put it in nutral because i was tired from a 5 hour drive and didnt wanna hold the clutch down. not the safest thing to do i relise but at the time it made scence.

ouch, 200$ is alot of bank but whats the real difference between a 100$ and a 300$ one, if there gettin you with a lazer there isnt much u can do to detect him ahead of time right?

exactly...laser & instant on are dead rights....I would say that you might have a chance going to traffic court. I had some prick cop try to give me a 65 in a 45 zone, but it really was a 50 zone & I was goin 55. Anyway, Judge didn't even hear my case, I just talked to the prosecuter, and since the cop wasn't there (prosecuter called him though) I got it plea bargained to 5 over (what I was doin)....that's a big difference, and no points vs. 4 pts. That's just my $.02, but you may have a chance. good luck

I use a Passport 8500. Only had it for a few months, but this thing has impressed alot. Especially being in a state with instant on radar. I would recommend it if it isn't a strain on your finances.

by peaked i was saying i reached the top of the hill, i wanted to get some speed commin down and i guess i could of just given some gas in 5th but i was lettin my momentium cary me.

I just called the GT dealership owned by the company i work for just to see what they might have. They have something that goes next to your license plates and can give you a 5-6 second warning on lazers, i dono how that works but it would only cost me 550 installed.

Kinda pricey tho and im not a serious speeder, i just dont wanna get screwed again.

How much does the 8500 run for and where is a good place to pick one up? thx all.
