smoke head/tail overlays

Hello all,
I am looking to tint my tail lights (hate the stock red) and headlights (there is this ugly scuff on one from previous owner that upsets me)

has anyone tinted their headlights? how much does it obstruct light? will the heat be bad for the overlay? will the overlay stay even with the scuff mark?

I can get these in 20% or 35%
