Smoke From Engine Bay This Can't Be Good???

I'd take it back to the dealer and have them give it a thorough check, It could be an electrical problem that is intermitent. I've seen brand new cars burn like that. I saw a 70K new Trans Am go up in flames just a couple of weeks ago, ruined the guys day

Heres your answer. The coolant bypass hose to the block was leaking. The small 'L' shaped one down by the turbo. I had to have mine replaces. Also, its normal for a new engine to drink some oil, mine did it until about 1500 miles and now doesnt lose anything.

It's at mazda now getting looked at, hopefully the'll have it for me tomorrow cause I really miss my car. I think when I get it back I'm doing an oil change and putting synthetic in it. I don't like the fact that it's buring oil at all even if it is a new car, and running synthetic will help elminate that a lot i think.

The reason it would be burning oil is that before your break a car in, the rings aren't seated.

I would put on a few more miles w/ conv. oil before going to a
full synthetic oil so your rings have time to seat completly.If your
burning oil they problably are not seated yet. When you go syn.
look into Amsoil, we use it in all our street and racecars. I've
never had failure due to lubrication with it.

it's suppose to be a well built turbo engine. I'm kinda dissapointed that after 800 miles it's already in the shop. Oh well...

Nope, just a normal 2.0L Protege motor that they slapped a turbo onto. Nothing fancy about these motors.

as stated before i would suggest that the if you have not seen any fluids left on the floor of the garage or drive. That most likely its factory rust inhibitor oil burning off. they usualy do the whole exaust system at the plants for protection of when the vehicles sit lonely in a lot awaiting an owner. unlike a Trans tunnel in a rear wheel drive only car, there is a chance that the "smoke" as you put it could be back drafting into the engine bay,. Keep good eye on fluids. If your really concerned take it to the dealer. You payed for that warranty use it. Mindset on knowing nothing is wrong from someone able to put the vehicle on a lift and thouroghly check it out might be the ticket. hope not of course nothing is....
