No worries mate. The D40 is a 6.1MP camera. I'd like higher than my current 8.![]()
MP is not a valid measure of a cameras ability to take good pictures. In fact, for a given sensor size it is a physic certainty that more pixels will have more digital noise. Cameras with APS-C sensors and >6MP need to use noise reduction in the camera which means you are loosing image data. i.e. you pay for 10MP then the camera blurs, blends and tweaks the image back down to 5 or 6 with noise reduction.
You can avoid this by shooting RAW, but then you get all the noise...
Altspace, if you're looking for a good camera don't fall into the marketing trap of mega-pixels. Get a used 5D which is full-frame so it experiences much less noise.
