Slow down on public roads

A picture is worth a thousand words.

The Honda rider was traveling at such a "very high speed", his reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident. Swedish Police estimate a speed of ~250 KM/h (155mph) before the bike hit the slow moving car side-on at an intersection. At that speed, they predicted that the rider's reaction time (once the vehicle came into view) wasn't sufficient enough for him to even apply the brakes. The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found INSIDE the car with them. The Volkswagen actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 10 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.

At 250 KM (155 mph) the operator is traveling at 227 feet per second.
With normal reaction time to SEE-DECIDE-REACT of 1.6 seconds the above operator would have traveled over 363 feet while making a decision on what actions to take. In this incident the Swedish police indicate that no actions were taken.

The school system around here does that, where every year they have a car parked outside the high schools around prom time. Each car is supposely the result of a drunk driving accident. Oh and blood is normally still visable on the dashes.......

damn, I never figured a bike would get lodged in the car. figured they would always get catupulted somewhere, while still doing a lot of damage, but never getting stuck in there.

I heard a story with the same thing happening around here. Some kid with his g-friend speeding hit a car pulling out of a side street. The kid actually was cut in two, torso down and they found the girl hanging from the power lines.

damn thats pretty nasty

a guy wiped out on PCH back when I lived in CA, and he was wearing only a tank top, shorts and sandals. He was doing 100+, and when he laid it down, he ground through most of his head and one shoulder while coming to a stop.

Holy s*** those pics are nuts. Kinda makes me want 2 drive a lil slower ehhh NAH whats the point of having a fun car then lol

even if you are smart and don't screw around on a bike, you still will get run over on an suv. Bike on the track = teh win. Bike on the road = teh looose x32402384 :(

There were 2 rich kids at my middle school(or actually highschool, but they were several years ahead of me and they announced it over the PA at my middle school at the time) were in a Viper(daddy's car) going down a 2 lane road both of my grandparents live off of, and they decided it would be fun to go hill jumping. There's 1 hill that you can kinda get a lift on, but it's a pretty flat road, except it turns and drops a little.

The morons got up to about 120 then hit the turn, wiped out, and cut the car in half via a telephone pole. In half like 2 pieces...unfortunately it happened to be in the middle and both kids were killed.

About a year ago i went to traffic school cause i got in an accident with my old car. They made everyone say their name and tell what they were there for, one kid was caught going 173mph on 85 just outside Atlanta. The cop teaching the class said that if he had crashed their probably wouldnt be enough of him left to bury.

A girl that lived down the street from me until about 1.5 ago was racing on 141 near my house. Lost control of the car went through the median ramped off the other side and landed on top of an old lady's car. It killed the old woman and the girls boyfriend.

Last one. A friend of my mom's lived on a road with a bunch of hill's on it that could easily be jumped. Well a couple of dumbasses decided they would try to get as much air as possible on one of the hills after school one day. They came over the hill caught air and landed in the back of a school bus. Luckily no one was in the back seats but it killed both of them.
