"Slip" In Second Gear?

So I've started to notice a "slip" in my car when under load. Usually happens when I'm accelerating hard to merge or pass someone, but I'll get through first gear all right, shift to second, and then I'll feel a very slight "slip" in the rear wheels. A rear-right, I think.

Feels like the right rear tire is breaking loose, then grabbing again, but that doesn't seem real likely if it isn't doing so in first gear.

Someone suggested perhaps a differential tooth missing or something like that. Any ideas?

You most likely have a synchronizer that is heavily worn or going bad.

A note to others: No drama in my section, please.

OK, I took it in today, after realizing it was in THIRD gear, not second. Also wanted them to investigate a squeak I was hearing in the front end. They went over it with a fine-toothed comb and while they couldn't replicate the third-gear "slip," they did find that the squeak was coming from a bad bushing in the....guess what....

....rear top diff mount. So they ordered a whole new mount and I get that put on after Christmas. They said she's safe to drive until then, that it won't fail on me for awhile, but I'm just happy that I get a new rear diff mount under warranty! WOOT.

And while they don't know if that was causing the slip, that's what my money's on. I'll be it fixes both problems. Also getting my clock fixed and got my moon roof tightened up so it closes flushly now.

Thank GOD I have a great dealership service manager!

So I took the car in today at 7 a.m. and by 3:30, the car was done. I had it back at 4.

They fixed the stupid clock problem (not keeping correct time) and replaced the entire rear diff mount.

The squeak was not there as far as I could tell, and while I didn't get to drive it much, the little slip in third didn't seem to be there either. I'll drive her hard tomorrow and see if I still get that.

ANd the Penkhus guys even took it out and washed it for me. It was a dirty mess when I took it in, but is all nice and PRETTY now!
