slight whine noise under boost

Just like the title says . When I am under 80% boost or higher I start to hear a whine noise other then the turbo spooling. It just started today so I hope its not because of rain but it hasn't affected driving or anything else so I am hoping it goes away. Anybody else ever have any problem like this ?

sub..... I have had this problem also and would like to know what it is too. I've heard its the exhaust but I don't think so......bump

I had the same issue... everyone says it is the exhaust and that it goes away when you replace the midpipe... has something to do with how restrictive the stocker is.

I actually think mine is an intercooler hose leak somewhere. I recently installed a fmic and it doesn't sound like the turbo . It sounds more like air being forced out of a pinhole.

check the hose from the turbo to intercooler and you will might see a crack where the blow off valve hoes goes that is where mine cracked that little peice where the hose goes it is just melted on the stock pipes and to replace it from mazda it is around 400.00 go with hard pipes if that is the problem

I think I have had this problem twice already. Even though in my car I hear it whenever I put pressure on the engine. I can drive downhill @ full boost without hearing it but I hear it long before getting into boost going uphill.
First time I replaced the exhaust gasket. After an engine rebuild it came back and now I am waiting for a Samco intercooler hose.
My hotpipe has the recirculation fitting in place but has a small crack in the pipe itself by the turbo.

MSP2K3: Thanks for the tip abouth the J-pipe. Now I know where to go if the intercooler hose doesn't fix my problem.

im having the same problem with the weird whistling noise and 0 to little boost, and i traced my problem to the turbo, i found a small air leak where the turbo and elbow meet, i suggest looking at that while the car is on and still cold and see if you feel a boost leak
