Skunk2 squeaky =\

This is for everyone who has the Skunk2 coils installed on their car...
I know that generally skunk2s dont come lubricated from the factory but the amount of noise im getting from my passenger side rear spring is ridiculous..im jacking the car up and seeing whats going on tomorrow..and if i cant figure it out, im taking it to the local speed shop (speedline)...just wondering, if yours are as squeaky as mine....

Many Mazda products use a thin, mylar looking "washer" at the top of the spring, between the spring and the upper mount - About as thick as a sheet of notebook paper. Not sure yet if the P5 came with these, but I know my Miata has them.

Possibly you left one of these out during the spring change?? It's absence will cause a squeek, as that's what they were put there to prevent.

No picture.

I'm pretty sure it's Mylar, white in color (at least on the Miatas) and prevents metal to metal contact between the spring and the top shock mount.

We accidently left one off my brothers car when we did a shock change, and he's keeping it in case it starts squeaking, at which time I guess we'll replace it.

Not sure if the P5's even use these, but if you have a squeek, I'm betting that adding one would make it go away. You could cut your own, if you find a sheet of Mylar someplace.

there are two possibilities that i can think of...one is that te coilovers just need to set in...a lot of suspension systems are pretty squeaky after being installed until they work themselves in to position...since you installed last week probably not the case...

so now it sounds like the system just isn't lubed...i would get some lubricant and start checking the all te joints..

I have the ground-controls and my front driver's side does this squeek. I took it apart recently and found that the berring between the coilover cap and the strut-cap assembly had cracked, causing the squeek. I replaced this part and the squeek went away, for the most part. I still get a much quietter squeek but not very often. Could this be because the strut is going bad? If it is lubrication, where do I lube the suspension at?

well..i didnt get to checking it out yet..but I'm pretty sure I will this week...it's a relief its not just me though, esp for those of you with GC too, I was about to start kicking myself for not getting the GCs or Eibach springs...will check and update..peace
