The car was fantastic. I (once upon a time) owned a 1983 RX-7 and enjoyed every minute with that car in the mountains. Until now, I have not driven a car that was as much fun as that rotary powered machine.
On my way up to Sun Peaks Village, on a switch back climbing blind stretch of highway (posted speed for corner - 30km/h) my speed, 80km/h but could have taken it faster had it been my 2nd attempt and not my 1st. (Fear Factor)
Only one thing lacking, that much needed cruise control, for the flat lands of course.
I averaged 35mpg for the entire trip and peaked 45mpg in the mountains cruising at a conservative 110km/h, occasionally going higher to pass. I took some back roads west bound in Saskatchewan and topped 210km/h, and probably averaged 150km/h for over 2 hours. (bad gas mileage). After this stretch of road, I got an oil change the next day. (Highly recommended if you do the same type of driving)
p.s. don't forget your radar detector and enjoy the trip
