I have been toying with the idea of taking off the side moldings and the 3 emblem. How did some of ya'll do it and what did you use to clean off whatever the moldings and emblem leave behind on the car? Thanks in advance for any info.

Alittle heat, and the side mouldings pull off really easy, if you pull with a side to side motion you can get it to come off without leaving any glue on the car itself. I did mine awhile ago, and just faced the side I was going to do in the sun for a few mins, (only like 80 then) and they came off much easier than when in the shade. The only emblem that doesnt have a tab going into the metal is the 3, unless you are re-badging or planning on filling and re-painting them....

They should be on the same way as the p5. I did mine with a heat gun but I had a lot of residue left on it. Just get a plastic scraper, a sponge and 3m adhesive remover. It won't damage the paint and you have to really soak it in the sponge. Give yourself about 2 hours tops to do everything.

Would bug and tar remover do the same as 3M adhesive remover? I have a heat gun, would that be better because it sounds like more heat = easier time getting them off. For the record, I want to remove the side moldings and the "3" emblem from the rear.

i took molding and the 3 off no heat gun no chemicals, just pulled right off left no glue or sticky stuff, then i wased my car. no problems.car was about 1 1/2 years old when i did it.....

Just attempted to remove them and I am definately going to have to buy some fishing line and use my heat gun!

for real?
i pulled mine right out. the fishing line may scrape your paint. i used some dental floss (minty) and it came right out. after i just washed it and there was no decoloration or glue left. the badges are trickier. you will have to pull/pry and sow (using dental floss) to get it out. paint in my ass.

I just got done cleaning up the "3" emblem. It was a b**** but the 3M adhesive cleaner is the $h!t! It does look pretty clean now and just needs the Axela emblem on the other side. After the fight with the emblem I think I am going to wait awhile before removing the side moldings. Just don't want to go through all this trouble again.

my side mouldings werent that bad. I did them in like march and in utah it still isnt that warm then. Mine came off really easy but it did leave some residue. About 20 minutes of cleanup on both sides is all. well worth it

Well I was going to take them all off but I decided to paint all of them w/ flat black paint. I think It looks cool and I didnt screw up my paint. If no one here knows how to take them off call the parts department and they can walk you though it . good luck
