Side airbags/aftermarket seats?

I'm told the stock seats in the MSP have basically FA in the way of lateral support, so I'll probably replace them.

Does the car have side-impact airbags in teh factory seats that I'd have to install a bypass for to keep the airbag light from freaking out?

ANyone know good mounting points for a quick-release 4pt Schroth harness for both driver and passenger?

Yes.

Schroths are 3-point with dual shoulder straps, so you should be able to mount them to the rear seat shoulder belt mounts. More serious belts would require a harness bar (and I don't know where to get one at the moment.)

the seats in the speed are just fine. Don't diss em, until you try them. The F'n A$$holes on Car and driver don't know what their talking about.....still.

Second newf's comment on the seats. For canyon carving the seats are fine. For autox, you can't replace the stock seats without bumping out of stock class. Go with some 3 inch wide racing belts tied to plates under the seat track mounting points. Use the rears for the belts and the fronts for sub straps, if you want them. Won't need shoulder straps for autox.

Excellent point on the stock class. I plan on entering SOLO I soon, and hopefully club racing at some point, but I'll need to stay stock class for SOLO II for sure.
