Shreak at Startup?

I understand that at startup the motor is going to rev a little. However, I can't understand why every time I cold crank in the morning the motor revs past 2500 RPMs and I get a slight shreak (it not the belt). Why would any company program an ECU to do that!?! That is the worst possible time to rev the motor and it does it everytime at COLD CRANK! Does anyone notice this or am I the only one experiencing this annoyance. I'm seriously thinking about finding a way to toggle the fuel pump on/off so I can build oil pressure before I fire off. This can't be a good thing on a turbo motor!

it revs high to get your car to operating temps faster. its pretty much for emissions purposes

Did you mess with the screw on the throttle body or the nut that you should never touch on the throttle body?
That isn't too out of the normal though.

Shreaking noise isn't normal. If its not your belts, it could be your turbo, or one of the pulleys on the timing belt.

I never touched the throttle body, but I'm not sure about the previous owner  I checked the exhaust mani. nuts last night (well.... at least the 6 that I could get too) and snugged up a couple.

I've been watching the tach. the past few mornings and it only sweeps up to 2300-2400 RPMs at cold crank - not past 2500 RPMs like I said before. Of course, after the motor is warm I do not experience any of these "issues". Maybe I'm just paranoid. I was hoping to compare my cold starts to others here on the board. If anyone can remember to watch there tach. in the morning, please let me know what your motor revs to after cold crank.

Mind you this shriek is not deafening or anything, but it is noticeable and kinda annoying. Who knows.... maybe it's the crappy oil the dealership "serviced" it with before they put it on the sale lot. I'm going Redline 10W-30 Synthetic in about 2,000 more miles.

I suppose I could.... Hmmmm..... May use two cameras. One aimed at Tach.... The other at motor... I'll try it this afternoon or tommorrow
