Like the title says, Do I really need to reset it? How does the ECU work after its been reset?

Do I need to reset ECU after exhaust installations also?

The install itself should reset the ECU. If it didn't, that means you didn't unplug the battery when you did the install.

Most people probably dont disconnect the battery for a CAI install, and you didnt answer his question...

You really dont have to reset the ECU but it wouldnt hurt anything if you did, might even get you some better gas mileage if you dont push it hard durring the first 100 miles or so while its re-learning everything. Even if you dont reset the ECU it will eventually adjust and compensate for the extra air flow, but if you are installing an exhaust soon it might be better to just wait untill that job is done and then do the reset, that way you only have to do it once.

Reseting the ECU after every engine modification would not hurt. It'll help the ECU learn the new shiet much faster. Unplug those cables, and tap on that brake mang......

+1 Unplug your cables and hold your foot on the brake pedal until the brake lights no longer illuminate.
