MP5
after considering my options i can do with my regular P5, i see a lot of money just being spent on the transmission work.... why? because it is an automatic... ive read 2 threads about people who have done amazing things with the automatic tranny... one of them said dont boost it... but thats what i kinda want to do to keep up with my friends' Honda K & B motors... there is a really good deal on a mp3 about less than 2 hours from where i live... is it worth trading in my MP5 for a MP3? it'll be the same exact payments... because of the payoff...

i want to know what you mp3 owners think.... especially those, if possible, those who owned a P5 before a mP3

Why not just do a 5 spd swap if you like the wagon?
Its not difficult.

forget a mp3...why not get something with some pep...the mp3 looks nice but they are slow as dirt....but if you went the msp route, well that is a whole other set of problems...I agree with forcefed's idea

hmm... there are lots of people saying switching to a new car with stock MT is much easier and less headaches and less $$$$

i'll go check out some part outs on the for sale sections...

i'm glad to create a thread where 2 people can intersect their minds and thus agree on something?? w/e thanx for the replies

Don't bother with dual a tranny swap. If you want a manual transmission AND want to keep a wagon, just sell yours and buy a manual, unless you REALLY like your car. I know people who have done the swap, and the one word which keeps coming up is that it's a nightmare. And it's NOT cheap either...
Personally, I think if like the look, don't mind switching from a wagon to a sedan and can keep the payments the same, you should switch over to an MP3...but then again, I'm not biased at all (shady)

mp3's are beautiful cars but if i had to do it all over again i would have spent the extra 2 grand and got a msp. I agree with CulRidr the swap is a nightmare and it is exspensive, it would be more cost affective to just trade it in for the mp3 or a p5 stick and put the money that u would have used for the swap into some other sort of mod.

what he said...of course there are other problems with the MSP, but none that haven't been remedied after spending a few bucks to fix it...

And how do you guys consider this a nightmare?
Lets see...
Parts needed
5 spd Tranny
Pedal assbly
Clutch master cylinder
Slave cylinder
Flywheel and clutch
ECU...Maybe
Some misc. parts.

If he can find a parts car for sourcing parts..Hes in there like swimwear.
Contact Metallic36...Shes parting out an MP3 right now..Not sure what she has left but I bet you could get a bunch of parts from her.

maybe nightmare is a little harsh of word but its still a pain in the ass even if u have the proper tools and know how, even if you were to do all the work yourself your still looking at 2000+$ in parts and way more if you have a shop do the work. that money could be put into something a little better than a stock 5 spd tranny swap.

actually... she already contacted me... so we'll see how that unfolds...

Contact Lil Freek; he'll tell you all about it, because he's actually done it. 2-3 years later, there are things that STILL aren't working, including his speedo and reverse lights (I would go further, but even he hasn't figured it out).

The MP3 is worth it dude.. The people who say a tranny swap isnt that hard have never done one. It's ALOT of work.

The MP3 is by far better then the waggon anyways. Again, people who say other wize dont have a MP3. The MP3 will also blow the doors off the waggon, even stock, I've done it but I have a heavy duty clutch that may have helped. And this is not to mention the cornering of the car.. its INSAIN!

I believe I have heard that though the MSP is faster (being turbo'd) the MP3 is still funner to drive. Even road and track wrote that the MSP lost what the MP3 had to compensate for the extra power. I think this is mainly because our steering ratio is quicker then the other protege's, something everyone forgets about the MP3.

If that MP3 is in good shape, I personaly would go for it in a heart beat.

And just so everyone knows, I've driven the regular GT, the ES, the P5.. none compaire to the MP3... I would like to try a MSP though.
