Should I bother with sliding door recall?

My '06 is affected by the sliding door recall but I have not taken the car to the dealership. I have never had any problems with the sliding door latches and I've heard that the fix will not completely cure the problem.

It's been almost a year since the recall. For those that have had problems with the latches, has the recall completely addressed the problem? I do all of my car maintenance at home and have never been to a Mazda service place. I really don't want to waste my time if the fix is just a half-assed attempt.

I would suggest you go get the fix applied (whatever it is). The last thing you want to happen is for the door to refuse to latch on a cold winter day.
Perhaps you should call the dealership and ask them what exactly they do to remedy the problem.

The recall completely cured my frozen latch problem which occurred 3-4 times before the fix. even down in DC, I would get it done.

We didn't have the fix performed until this year during the nice weather because of distance to the dealer. Last winter, we had the doors refuse to latch 2 or 3 times later on in the winter. We've not had a problem with them so far since the fix.

I'd suggest having the work performed because, on the occasions when ours failed to latch, it took me over an hour with a hair dryer/heat gun to get things warm enough to work again. That's no OK with me with little kids to transport. Fortunately, it happened at home and my wife just couldn't go do the things she had to do those days.

Thanks for the replies. Mazda recently sent me a reminder to take care of the recall. I will take my car to the dealer soon.
