For a few bucks more you can get the known quality of AEM, plus it comes powdercoated. This guy is just building these in his garage. There's a thread somewere in here that will tell you exactly how to build the same thing for a just a little money. But what ever floats your boat.
That's not really a "short-ram" intake. You've just added a foot of piping to the stock intake. I would personally call it a polished "filter extension." A real short-ram intake is crafted from the turbo or intake manifold (NA) to the nearest cool spot in the engine bay with the least bends possible. "Short-ram" means you have a short, direct path of airflow.
