alright guys, i know i saw this thread a while ago, but cant find it now. so ill just ask again. every damn time i get out of my car i get the f**k shocked out of me. it used to only shock my wife. i thought she was going(braindead but then it started doing it to me. it was just a little shock for a while, but now its starting to hurt. last night getting out of the car i could see a spark when i touched the door to close it. so wtf is going on? im kinda thinking i have a bad amp ground, but then why would it have got worse? maybe i should just relocate the amp or ground. what do ya think?

static electricity owns
get the leather seats

I have been shocked from my car without actually touching it. It hurt. I kicked the tire and said "BAD CAR" lol. J/K Seriously, my cars have all shocked me (all had systems) so I dont know if its the ground or what, but sometimes it really hurts. It seems like when my alternator whine comes back (comes and goes, have no idea) it shocks me less for some reason. Also, no idea.

I'm definitely shocked, I feel like there's something missing when it doesn't happen. I though it just had something to do with winter or the coat I was wearing.

^^^sad, but true. anyways, i thought id be smart and see if i could get away with closing the door touching only the plastic parts so i dont get shocked. fat chance. that f*cker arcd and still shocked me. and now ive been getting shocked by just about everything i touch. the only things i can think of are a bad amp ground or possibly my shoes. or both for that matter.

I get shocked all the time. I close the doors with the windows or if I can't, I use my shoe on the corner of the door to lightly close it.

I hate getting shocked. Sometimes, when I'm getting out of the car in a tight area (read: large car parking in a small car area) I have to squeeze between the cars just to get out. This resulted in my left nipple getting a nice jolt. Mother ****** stung like a b****.

The last time I got shocked bad, my finger went numb for about 30 seconds.

I would PAY to have a device that would remove static electricity from both myself and the car SAFELY.

I get shocked every time I get in and out, and I'm really close to doing what Peter in office space does...takes the screwdriver and pulls apart the door before he opens it....The shock isn't what bothers me, the part that bothers me is that it's a painful ******* shock, not just a little zap

they do have a grounding strap to go on the bottom of your shoes. my dad had one when he worked at advanced input devices. cool sh!t. you have to wear them when working around delicate and sensitive electronics. he used to bring home all sorts of fun stuff to play with. but since i dont live at with my parents anymore, i dont get all the cool goodies i used to. now i actually have to pay for my stuff=). but id rather have my own house than live with them and get free leds.

i get shocked everytime too....at first i thought it was mostly due to the winter weather, but now that it's getting warmer, it still happens. anyway, what i do is take my car key and discharge the static on the metal latch that door locks onto when you close it. you see a spark and you feel it, but it's far less than taking it straight on your hand. after that, close the door and no porblems.

BTW, the way to get out safely is to hold onto the frame of the car while you exit. You effectively ground yourself and discharge all the electricity without the nasty zap.

But it's such a pain in the ass to get out that way and I seldom remember...

murda, i've tried that before, and occassionally i'd still get the shock for some strange reason. it's been a while since i've last done that, but maybe it wasn't that bad.

I find the worst is when you KNOW you have to do it and you EXPECT it. Like, just prior to filling up.. it's like.. man... this is gonna hurt like a b****... but if I light up like a candle.. that'll hurt more... so.. here goes......

anticipation can be a b****. anyone else have any solutions to it? i heard of things u hang from the underside of your car that's suppose to keep it grounded. but i kinda think they got a little trendy a little while ago, so i never even tried to look into it after that.

forgot to mention that i have the stock stereo system in my car nor do i have any kind of electrical mods. so in my case, it's just a matter of having the cloth seats.

no s***? so its something in the protege electrical system. i figured it was because of the amp ground or something similar, but apparently not. hmm, theres got to be a way to fix this crap. i havent tried upgrading the ground wires yet, so i wonder if that would work, or at least help.

Picking a body part is key. I find the back of my forearm doesn't feel the shock that much.

when you go to close the door touch the center of the glass, the glass is strong enough that its not going to break, unless your an idiot and you punch your car
