jag61180 - upgrade your amp man. I have a buddy that worked for Memphis, he had two Memphis 1000watt D Class amps and two Memphis 15s in his zx2. he couldnt have any bass hittin when he was at idle cause it would stall out the car. even driving the car almost wanted to die. so ya upgrade your electonic system. a couple good (high crank) deep cycles. upgrade your alternator, i dont think there are any out there yet on the market, but you can sometimes find a GOOD electical place that knows how to up the output of an alternator. and add a really good cap.

if you need some more help with your Memphis s*** email me freekwonder@kc.rr.com like i said my room mate use to work for memphis. he should be back in town this week

freekwonder is on the right track with his responses. As far where to set your gain what you should do is turn down the gain all the way on the amp then turn up the head unit to a high volume so that your other speakers do not distort(Listen very carefully). Once they do distort turn it back down by just one increment so it is loud but not distorting. Then turn up the gain until the bass output starts to get muddy (again, be careful and don't let it get too muddy). This will get you to the point where you can have the largest range of volume and you will know how loud you can go without distorting. As far your electrical system a cap will help on the sudden big hits, but if you have a continuous draw on your alternator that is too high the alternator will have to be upgraded and you should install a better or more batteries. Consult an expert(someone who gets paid to know) on how to do that part, you don't want to F it up!
