as for it being stolen...if someone wants it...they will get it. so that shouldn't be a consideration on how you mount it.

two ways....go to walmart or a craft store and get a strip of velcro. I got some at walmart and the piece was 2 inches wide and 5 feet long. cut two strips and use a staple gun to affix them to each side of the bottom of the box. you are ONLY going to use the LOOPY side...the hard side....then put the box on the floor of the hatch where you want it...it will stay in place very nicely and not slide around...yet will be removable so you can get to your spare.

another way is to get two small D rings and screw them to the side of the box. then get two small straps of some sort and attech each side of the box to the hold down strap that is sticking throuh the floor mat up near the corners of the back seat....that will keep it in place nicely as well.

Personally...I like the velcro as you can't see anything...the box looks like its just sitting there.

Well, I know if they want it, they will get it. But, if its securely in place and the alarm is going off, your chances of it not getting stolen improve quite a bit. I'm just looking to at least make the thief work for it!! :)

alarm or not, if they know what u have...they will still get it...secured or not. my friend's car was stripped in a crowded parking lot w/ the alarm blaring the entire time. everything was caught on security tape for 20 minutes. no 1 was caught even w/ the video tape proof. i bungee it 2 the child seat thingies in back. works fine.

I used turnbuckles from the clip things on the floor to some screweyes in the box.

You can see on either side. I've since covered them with some carpet and velcro. It's easy to undo when I need the box out.

I just used some nylon straps...surfracks, actually...to strap my box down with the luggage tie-downs in the hatch area. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. :)
