Scratched rims

Are they painted or Polished...I've repaired many rims both ways before....so I give you the best honest advise

Do you have a decent ability at painting...the effort to fix a rim isn't really that hard...and if you'd see the effort a shop puts into it..you'd be sickened at the associated cost as well....if you scratch/curb mark isn't very deep and superficial..then you could have a good starting.."BUT"..if the damage is deep,..then other repair methods are usually outside the norm, and require specialized tools ans skills....so give me your ability summary..Peace!

I am pretty good with painting. And the scratch is not very deep at all. I was thinking about sanding it smooth and then painting it.

Ok..good.....if you have a good ability at painting and the cut isn't deep...then sanding and refinishing is an alternative.....I'll post tomorrow a good refinishing procedure as I'm headed to bed right now.....the two things really necessary for painted wheels are the ability to resist relatively high temperatures..being so close to the disc brakes...especially during the summer months....and paint hardness....the other requirements are standard for really any painting techniques.....Peace!
