- 2009 Mazdaspeed3
Thought it'd be great to start off by introducing myself.
I just picked up my 'Crystal White Pearl Mica' Mazdaspeed3 Tuesday... and I love it. May very well be the best car I've ever owned on first impression (and was certainly my most researched purchase).
I'm coming this way from Cobalt-land. In fact, this Mazda is my first ever Japanese car, and the first non-American car I've had since an '87 325 back in high school.
I'm a Marine, station now at Cherry Point - which is in Eastern North Carolina. I'm originally from just a bit west of Birmingham, Ala., and just got done about this time last year with a 3-year tour in Cleveland, Ohio.
My stable right now is listed below, but basically:
The Speed3 - Not sure where I'm going to go with this. Would like to keep it stock with only light mods, but, you know how that bug is.
2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged - Black, and my wife's. Hey, she learned how to drive a stick on the thing! Stock... and she puts too many miles on it to bother with modding.
2007 Cobalt SS 2.4L (Turbocharged) - Chevy did a 2-year run of a naturally aspirated SS. I slammed a Garrett GT2860RS on there, and hey - 254 whp/270 tq, not bad from 152/148. This one's for sale, so if you know anybody looking for a pretty decent looking sleeper - PM me. Asking price is $12,500. I'll update the link in my Sig regularly 'til its sold - beginning this weekend with some good photos (weather permitting, blah.)
For the future? Who knows. I've got an empty garage at my house and access to an excellent mechanic and kind of want to get a project car, but sure what that'll be (or what direction I'll go). I'd kinda like to do something European from the 70s or 80s, like a Mk1 GTI, BMW 2002, old Mercedes SL ... and on the other hands I've always been a fan of the 70s Datsun Z-cars and of course the RX-7 (but I know s*** about the Wankel.)
Anyhow, there it is. I'll know doubt spend a lot of time lurking, trying to get caught up on the 2.5 year head start some of you have, but I'm looking forward to being a part of the Mazda community.
