So it starts off basically with me and a sizable chunk of Mazda Team getting evicted from my house at midnight for whoknowswhatsuppeoplesasses. We all part ways and my restless mind, thinking thoughts best left unthought, required the satisfaction of a temptation - the open road.
I let the snap of the wrist and the click of the gearshift into place mesh into melody with the rumble of the engine and hiss of the turbo. The world and its worries seemed to pass me by. Coming over the crest of the hill, the freshly painted white sign with chrome emblem lit up like a beacon of glory. The much hallowed mazda dealer.
I pull in and cruise the front of the lot, the usual RX8s and Mazdaspeed Proteges taking up space
The markdowns are more evident since my last visit, and I am about to depart in my precious Pikamobile, dejected that nothing new or fresh has graced the confines of the lot. And there they sit, tucked in between a pair of 6s in back; a trio of Mazda3s.
I have to say that up close, the car is a damn sight better looking than any of the pictures have so far portrayed it. The first hatchback was in the titanium color, which is my early favorite. The car is proportionally similar to my car, not all Matrix/Vibe like I expected it to be. The lines and body are very crisp, very sleek and smooth. The hood and the front end are very very nice. The back styling lacks something, maybe a little too clean and too plain. But the interior looks sharp, very ergonomic and cockpit like. The attention to detail looks like it has been handled well. What really strikes me is how well everything looks to fit up - nice and snug that screams quality in terms of construction.
The sedan was more of the same, again the back end just seems to lack a little in the design department, and both cars overall look smaller in real life. The hatchback especially has this artful form and flow to it from stem to stern. One of the cars had a black grill and no foglamps - I will be one to say that this car needs the body color grill - it just makes everything look that much more seamless and the fog lamps just complete the upscale look of the vehicle. It was really amazing to compare the cars dimensionally to mine - alot closer than you might think. I'll go back in light time to grab some comparison pics and maybe even a test drive. If Mazda makes a MS3, i'd consider a trade. It really is a sharp little car.
