Wow, I thought for once this board had the level to actually view every car for what it brings to the race sence. Guess not.

The SRT despite whatever the base platform was or is, will be a good performer to look at in the future. The HP rating they give is way way under rated. The wheel HP is almost more than what they are rating at the engine.
There is a video posted in the video section of a SRT racing a WRX and AWD DSM on the highway. Worth a look.

Plus they are offering stage upgrades under warrenty that bump the power over 300hp.

Now what this does mark is atleast a apperciation from the domestic car markers on the sport compact areas and aftermarketing.

Will make the Imports Vs Domestics WWIII battles more interesting to actually have some compentation.

It's a Neon, that goes fast in a straight line. That is freaking great, but who cares???
To me there is a lot more important things about cars then straight line performance while looking to purchase a new car.
It doesn't have power rear windows, but power front windows. :wtf:
It doesn't have a LSD. :wtf:
It still has a crap Fisher Price Interior, and poor build quality.
Ever own a Chysler or $hitubishi product???
It is still FWD, it wouldn't matter to me if it was 300-400 hp.
I will forever be waiting for a Neon that will **** me from 0-140.

Well from what I've read...it still handles good...even without the LSD.

Alot of magazines also claim to say the LSD isn't as missed as some would think.

And in the long run...it still whoops any car's ass, on a race track, or the drag strip, in the price range.

If you're all about performance, that would be the better car to go for. The MSP isn't all about performance though, if it was, mazda would of beefed up the internals instead of throwing a nice soundsystem, and getting sparco brand parts.

Please tell me why it took Mitusbishi 10+ years to recall 3/S transmission parts?

There transmissions are not the slickest in the AWD cars but tell me you didnt beat the hell out of it.
Even 10 second DSM's are still run on the stock transmissions.
I got 127K miles and still on the stock long block and transmission.
Maybe your car was a POS, what year was it?
Were you the first owner?
At least you have an MSP now so you wont have to worry about any transmission issues.
Try to run even 300whp through yours and then tell me how reliable and smooth it is.

Uh yeah. The Chrysler was the most reliable car I've ever owned and that includes my P5. It was all Chrysler though. No mitsu parts. My Mitsubishi Mirage went though three tranny rebuilds and a head rebuild in the first 30,000 miles. And an FYI, the ONLY thing Mitsubishi on the SRT-4 is the actual turbocharger. The motor is NOT the same 2.4 used in the Galant/Eclipse.
