I had an external satellite receiver installed, took a pick showing where I mounted it. Had it directly connected to the radio with the direct connect vice using the "FM Transmitter". Transmitter on the new satellite radios is not strong enough to override local radio stations. Good sound thru the current stock setup, thinking of adding a "Bass Tube" in the back to give the radio a little more bass. Included where my Garmin sits when I'm driving, I like this set-up because I can put the garmin on the floorboard when I park and no give-away suction cups rings for thieves.
