rust spots on rotors

I don't see any indication in the inititial post that the guy is talking about anything other than the normal micro-thin layer of 'rust' that forms when any car sits undriven for a while especially after being washed or after rain. Read his post again. The next time the car is driven, this gets removed the first time the brakes are applied.

I was referring to the people who took their cars into the dealers complaining about rust on the hubs; those people caused Mazda to put out a Technical Service Bulletin about the rusty hub "problem". THAT's what I was ,marvelling at...:p
