Running mad rich on OEM computer

:
'03.5 MSP(Yellow!)
Alright, the megasquirt's out, since the protege will be used as a street car from now on. I'll put in in a miata (with an FS motor), so no worries, it'll be put to good use. However, in my quest to make the t3 setup run on stock management (shouldn't be hard), I've run into a snag. The car runs PIG RICH. But I don't have any CEL's. I had to get a universal O2 sensor and wire it up, and it seems to be oscilating normally when I checked it with my multimeter at idle. It runs so ungodly rich under after-start enrichment that you can't even accelerate. Then if you shift after making boost, giant clouds of black smoke and large backfires occur. It won't idle for s***, especially when you come off throttle after cruising. It's an open-vent HKS Blow Off Valve for now, until I can get a recirc kit in, but that shouldn't affect cruising, should it? I thought maybe since the EGR tube doesn't go anywhere that might be causing a big vavuum leak, so I unplugged it. No effect. I might try plugging the actual tube with something. The MAF is in the short piece of tubing before the turbo, the IAT sensor is in the fenderwell, and the 2nd O2 sensor is in the fenderwell too (haven't got a bung after the cat yet). The MAF isn't the original MSP maf (sold it, s***!). This one is from an '02 sedan. I was told it's no different. Can anyone verify this? Any ideas why it would run so damn rich and not throw a CEL????
This is an open brainstorming session, so no ideas will be shot down! Throw anything and everything at me!!

what are the serial numbers on the MAF? I believe there are atleast 3 serial numbers mazda used, but like you said, shouldn't be different mafs. who knows though...

I would put the IAT back into the inlet pipe as it helps determine timing. If you can get an OBD2 reader to view fuel trims and timing it would help too. Are you sure base timing is correct? Stock injetors?

stock injectors, tried to get ahold of an OBDII scanner today, couldn't find one that could display in realtime or datalog that didn't wanna charge me 65 bucks to use it. grrr. I have no idea how the timing could be off; it runs great on startup and warmup, just not once it warms up. It's stock everything timing-wise. Is there even any way it could be off? with all the stock gear? I'll check it anyways to the best I can (there aren't any timing marks on the wheel).

Serial # on the MAF reads:
FS1E
E5T52271 2301

Mazdaspeed has listed the part # for the MAF from an '02 protege as FS1E-13-215, for reference.

actually they list 2 part #'s I think this maybe a replacement # because they did not have any stock of the other one

FS1E-13-215R-00 I thought maybe it was refurbished at first but its the same price so I am assuming its not

the problem turned out to actually be the computer being fried. Not sure how it happened, but it was bad. I got a new one and it fixed it.
