Mazda CX9 Grand Touring 2012
Looking for Running Boards or hidden step for 2012 CX-9.
Wife would love to have a step when getting in the Vehicle like she does on her pilot.
Been doing searches but only find ones for earlier models.

I used to have a bigger pic. You still can find it at Canadian websites.

IMHO, due to the fact that the lower edges of CX9's doors are very close to the ground,
any side-step will not look good on CX9 since it will be even closer to the ground (also
making it useless for anyone).

Holo thanks for the link to the PDF file.
Ceric appreciate the words on this one.
Mainly just looking to see if anything is out there as the wife complains when she gets in the car.
She is 4' 10" she feels it is a stretch to get in the CX9.
Not really sure if I will actually get anything in the future.
If I were to get a set those would be what I would want.
Would have to take a look at what the effect would be on the ground clearance as you are right it could be too close to the ground.

Since you have a GT, use 1 of the seat settings and set the seat position all the way down for getting in/out.

Good tip. Wish I could do that on the touring.

I cart the grannies and aunties around to Dr's appnts and such. They could use a boost gettin in. I could use it for loading kayaks for sure.

I do carry a plastic step stool for this but would opt for the nerf bars or board if the clearance was decent.

Anyone who does this or sees the canadian version please take some picts or report for us. Thanks.

Pictures?

Here is what it says in the Installation Manual:
"Mazda 07-08 CX9 (must remove underseal cover)"
When I first got me CX9 back in 2008, I have been searching for running boards.
All the good ones I found required (so is this one) removal of underseal cover.
No sure what it means and how it will look afterwards.

I really like your running boards! That is exactly what I would like for my 2012 CX-9. I think my husband emailed broadfeet, but we are located in KY, so not sure if we cold just buy them and have them shipped so we could install ourselves. Did you have them installed there or did you do it yourself? Also like the grill you have, I can already see where the OE one will be a pain to keep clean.

The manual dates back to 2009. Not sure what that cover is either but doubt it's the front or rear undercarriage shrouds.

The Onki's look like a decent style for this car. Lot's of room to walk around and assist with roof topping of large toys like this:

I wonder about how much ground clearance is lost. Especially with low profile rims like Arnies.

Like the roof rack. are those OE rails and aftermarket crossbars?

So pulled the trigger and purchased a Set of Onki Lighted Running boards for my 2012. Got with Onki and they sent me some pictures of the install and gave me some advice for installing them. Really happy with the response I got from them and the quality of the running boards as a local shop here has them but cannot get them in from their supplier. So ordering them from CARID and having the local shop install them including wiring up the lights.
I have put the pictures in my profile area and in a album for the running boards. Will take some pictures and post them when the are installed on the vehicle.
Here are a couple of the pictures that they sent me.
