Greetings Folks!
New member here. I have a 2008 CX-9 GT with the OEM rear seat entertainment system. A couple of weeks ago my 4 year-old thought it would be neat to shove a small card (about the size of a business card) into the DVD slot.
The dealer was able to extract the card, but the unit won't accept discs now - drawing them about 80% of the way in then basically just stopping - no automatic eject, no beep, nada. Only possible solution the dealer then offered was a whole new entertainment system. Not just a new DVD unit - a whole new system for $5K! Uh, no.
I've talked to one local independent car stereo shop and for $400-$500 they'll dismount the unit and send it out to a repair shop - and while they indicated they're pretty sure it's fixable, there's no guarantee.
I am not a do-it-yourself person - especially in this case... having seen another post in this forum that showed all the work that's required to replace the unit.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be highly appreciated! And if anyone here is in Southern California (and preferably OC) and can recommend a good car stereo shop, I'd like to have a couple of more people look at it.
Thanks in advance!
