I used the search function and found some information on the RR Racing Big Brake kit. Has anyone out there done the Big Brake upgrade with the stock, relocated caliper?

If so, do you have any pics or feedback on how they perform? Additionally, does anyone have an idea whether or not they are compatible with the ABS on the P5?

(whitepro) errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (you)........... (silverp5) errrrrrr(Me)

I just happen to think you can never have to much brake or tire.

I'm sure they are respectable. Just thought it odd that no one has done the mod considering the reasonable price (approx $550).

I like the idea that I can stuff the brake upgrade behind the stock 16's. Trying to make sure I have the suspension and brakes figured out before I do any go fast goodies. Gotta have the stop and juke moves in place!

well, the brakes might be TOO strong. remember, you have to keep the back and the front balanced. the stop tech kit is VERY good. VERY well balanced so you don't have to rework the rear. that is my biggest concern with the R&R.

i dont understand what you mean by too strong:confused:

If the brakes are too strong on the front the fronts may lock up and the rears are free rolling that could mean a spin out, but if you are just using a caliper relocation kit and a larger rotor i don't see why this would be a problem.

I do have ABS....so wheel lockup is not much of a concern. Stronger brakes with the help of ABS should translate into better stopping power. As far as balance is concerned, rear brakes do very little braking to begin with, so this isn't much of a concern.

Remember, the RR kit utilizes the factory caliper in this instance, so we are not talking whiplash inducing stops. Stopping will still be improved, just not as drastically as a 4 piston caliper kit would be. But if a few feet of stopping distance can be cut, it can mean the difference between an accident and a close call.

Appreciate the input.

i think for the money it is a good kit:D

Sorry to bring this back to life....

HAS ANYONE installed the Big Brake Upgrade from RR-Racing on their P5?

I am in the middle of ordering and would like to know who has installed them for tips and concerns (if any).

I put this mod off a little while cause I wasn't able to find anyone that has ever dealt with this kit. I'm interested, but was just a little concerned about being the "guinea pig" so to speak.

If you get the kit, let me know how the install and fit are.

the install and kit should be fine. you may need to edit the back plate, but that shouldn't be a problem. the caliper relocation is easy. it should use the stock mounting locations and should include the mounting bolts with torque specs and instructions. the is an easier alternative to the 4pot because you don't have to bleed the brake system.
