RPM on neutral

Hi guys. Just bought a 2002 P5. I was wondering what was the normal RPM of you engine on neutral after 10 minutes. Thanx!

Yep, me too. I've been driving the car for about 3 weeks and the normal RPM during neutral is about 500-750 ... is this normal??
Aren't we supposed to be at zero instead ...

Also, did you hear a small rattle noise when you drive above 40mph and hit a small bump or something .... How do I get rid of this annoying noise ... It seems like it's coming from in front of the dash or somewhere close to my driver seat. I didn't have nothing under the seat or on the dash though. Is thing normal also or there is some loosen item(s) that has be tighten a little bit?

thanks in advance.

ummm ????

0 rpm = dead engine

are you confused with electrics?

our cars should idle at about ~~~600 rpm. that's about half way mark between 0 and 1 on the tach...

sounds like this is your first car with stick or your first car with a tach...

The revs will be at zero only when it's shut off. You were kidding, right?
The car may make sounds because of its tight suspension. If you feel something is loose, take it into your dealership for an inspection.

Cheers, Mark :)

thank you all for the clarification on the 0 RPM when it's in the normal idle mode. Well, my previous car is civic cx hatchback 97 manual transmission and i guess i'm pretty new with this better engine type. :-) Or maybe i didn't really pay attention too much on my previous car with regard to the rpm console.

Thank you also for the suggestion on the rattle noise at the driver seat/dash issue, i'll try to investigate more on it.
