so this might be a lil extream but i was wondering if id be possible to do a complete overhaul on a p5 for a rotary swap?

ill ether go that rout or mazdaspeed idk yet which ever is more difficult to overcome probably the rotary

welll mazdaspeed protege has the same engine as ours.... just a turbo and some other things like different radiator

I would do something like that for fun down the line. It just to much time and money to do though. I would try drop a Honda DOHC motor=)

Depends what MS you are talking about. An msp or ms3.

I have always wanted a rotary engine so i would prbably try to find a Wankel that fits with not too much fabrications in the bay. But that's just me :)

Sure. After a ton of money and fabrication work. You're better off going for an MSP turbo setup if you want more zoom zoom. ;)

h22 or f22b -turbo yea or any K series. any b or d series would be worthless on this car (then again most b and d series are sohc lol)

check out myspace/yellowpro5 and watch the drag video of a 7 second p5 rotary lol wow how nasty

I imagine the FWD part of the equation would be the hardest part to reconcile.

I've actually seen pictures of a front-wheel drive 13B Mazda MX3... so it's definitely possible. You just need an adapter plate for the transmission.

That would definitely be bad-ass... and stealth...

Pointless, absolutely pointless. It would just be throwing $$ out the window for an ass load of fab work and not a whole lot of gain

If anyone was to swap a honda motor into a p5.... H22, maybe, F22b... no way H22A>F22B. K series sure, but there all high end horsepower with no torque.

And btw no B series was sohc, all D series were sohc except for 4 or 5 variants.

Bottom line, Build the FS for N/A or boost, KL swap or spend a bundle on fab work for a rotary or w/e u put in...

If u want a Dohc honda motor in a 2700lb chassis go buy a 4th-5th gen prelude

turboed f22b's and f23bs put out a lot more power than a n/a or turboed h22. im also referring to the dohc f22b not single. too bad h22s are so freakin' weak when it comes to boost.

yea i wasnt sure about b series being sohc or dohc...i find them to be slow either way

th FS doesnt make much power at all even turboed. in all honesty, the person is better off just buying a rx-7 straight up.

Anything's possible... but its not very likely that you'll get it done without a heck of a lot of money and custom fabrication.....
If you want something "special" and "different" that wont break the bank....KLZE swap (then turbo that, or run a supercharger on it or something), or an FE-DOHC (FE3/FE3N) and turbo that...both motors are very capable (FE3 can push out north of 500hp on stock internals), both should (more or less) bolt straight in, and both will make more horsepower than you will be able to handle in a FWD car ;)
